Symbiotic Relationships

In every habitat, there are symbiotic relationships.  These relationships are either Mutualism, Commensalism, Parasitism, or Predator/Prey.  Here are some of these relationships:

Predator/Prey- The Raccoon, being the predator, goes after the Eastern Woodrat, which is the prey, to eat it .  The Raccoon can also be prey, however, when being hunted by the Red Fox.

Parasitism- The Eastern Mole is the host for many parasites such as fleas, lice, and mites.  These things draw blood from the Eastern Mole, and can spread infections and harm the Eastern Mole.

Commensalism- The Red-Winged Blackbird feeds off of berries from various plants.  This doesn't harm the plant- it just regrows the berries.  The bird, however, gets food.

Mutualism-  Fungus grows around the roots of trees.  The trees provide them with some of the sugars they produce through photosynthesis, and the fungus, in return, helps the trees access more resources.
